Microcurrent Therapy for Myofascial Pain

Description:This class will provide the practitioner with fundamental and essential concepts for using microcurrent frequencies to treat myofascial pain due to common and more complex physical injuries and pathology. You will learn frequency combinations and techniques for myofascial pain and dysfunction, reflexive pain, and pain that is referred from discs, facets and ligaments that often present as myofascial pain. Positive results have been reported for reducing myofascial pain associated with fibromyalgia, shingles, and sciatica as well as those caused and perpetuated by cervical and lumbar spine injuries.

This course is designed for the practitioner who wants a more in-depth understanding of physical medicine concepts and will include the history and scientific basis for microcurrent therapies. It will help the practitioner to quickly and easily integrate microcurrent applications into clinical practice and to interface within a multi-disciplinary approach, whether working within a hospital or medical office, or practicing in an independent clinical or outcall setting.

This course is ideal for practitioners who work with patients suffering from chronic pain, athletes with acute and chronic injuries, weekend warriors or anyone who actively exercises. Practitioners will learn specific microcurrent frequency protocols that help reduce chronic myofascial pain associated with inflammation and overuse, as well as precautions and red flags for microcurrent applications.

Extra bonus: Microcurrent therapy can easily be used for self-treatment of conditions commonly experienced by manual therapists, such as hand and forearm pain, chronic neck/back problems and a variety of other work-related complaints.

You are not required to own microcurrent equipment in order to take this class. Discussions will include equipment options to help you make informed choices about which type of equipment will work best in your practice setting or for your own personal use. If you already own portable equipment, please bring it to class for the practicum.

As a pre-requisite to this class you will be provided at no additional charge with a link to a video (approx 3 hours) to train you in Neural evaluation techniques. All attending this microcurrent class will be required to view this video prior to the class.

Class hours: Saturday and Sunday 9am-6pm
